This is the credo of the Modern Pulse Consulting Group, founded in 2009 by Len Pesko and Deborah Cianciotta, two of most respected voices in the footwear industry. Len Pesko's role as Principal and Partner at Modern Pulse Consulting Group is a key component of its success. Since co-founding Modern Pulse in 2009, Len has offered strategic business leadership and a portfolio of wholesale and retail experience with some of the world's biggest brands.

Len has been a trusted, high-level footwear industry executive for more than twenty years. His talent for creating winning strategies that dramatically improve the bottom line is one of his most powerful weapons. However, his greatest pride comes from his exceptional customer relations skills and innate ability to identify each particular client's objectives, goals and strategies to achieve powerful results.

Len's insight is frequently sought out by independent research firms in the investment community, including DeMatteo Monness, Guidepoint Global, Coleman Research Group and Gerson Lehrman Group. He also provides critical research and market intelligence to potential footwear industry investors.

He has become known for his engaging seminars at conferences including Advanstar Magic Show, MICAM and many others. Len has educated scores of industry leaders on a wide range of topics including the ins and outs of wholesale, what to expect when starting a footwear wholesale business, how to do business in the U.S., and operational topics such as warehousing, customer service and financial factors.

Len's career began at Macy's, where he quickly evolved from corporate buying to development. At Nine West Group's Enzo Angiolini division, over the course of 13 years he rose from Director of Concept to President, led the brand's growth from a $30 million to $145 million business, and maintained one of the industry's consistently highest bottom lines. He was then President and COO of Donald J Pliner, where he strategically reorganized various components of wholesale, including factories, operations and reporting structures that dramatically affected both footwear and handbag profits. While there, he was also instrumental in expanding brand awareness through the opening of retail stores.

Originally from the Jersey Shore, Len graduated from Monmouth University with a BS in Business and currently lives in Northern New Jersey with his family. He is a passionate music enthusiast and can frequently be found planning his next live concert experience.

deborah cianciotta

Deborah is one of the footwear industry's most respected voices. She has an exceptional talent for spotting emerging trends, identifying every aspect of a line's needs, and partnering with clients on product design, sourcing and manufacturing, branding, and merchandising. Her success stems from 30 years working with such notable creative product visionaries as Vince Camuto and Enzo Angiolini.

Since co-founding Modern Pulse in 2009, Deborah has inspired both established brands and startups to translate their product visions into reality. Her growing client list includes Nicole Richie's House of Harlow 1960, Flexi and Leon Max. She regularly partners with design teams and agents, introduces international brands to the U.S. market and improves her clients' productivity and profitability.

Deborah's career launched at Nine West Group, where she gained a solid foundation in the design, technical and business aspects of the footwear industry. She then became Senior Vice President of Product at Enzo Angiolini, where she traveled the world to collaborate with the world's most talented footwear artisans and was the driving force for the brand's explosive growth from a $45 million company to a $200+ million industry success story. Deborah also helped Camuto Group build its exclusive private label footwear business from $20 million to $70 million, focusing on all aspects of the brand's image by interfacing with RTW and accessories.

Deborah regularly provides trend forecasting and analysis to leading trade media outlets, including Footwear News and WGSN. She graduated from Pratt Institute with a BFA in Fashion and Interior Design. She currently lives in the New York metropolitan area, where you can often find her hunting through flea markets for the next best vintage find.
